This variety of technology has increased student engagement, freed teachers to focus on content and skill objectives, and opened the possibilities of leveraging social media, cloud-based tools, collaboration, and "flipped" classrooms. Students have been empowered to choose technology and are now better equipped to access the proper tools, evaluate learning needs, and effectively use technology to meet their educational goals. This session will detail the changes in the classrooms, networks, professional development, and communication in the roll-out and first year of the 1:1 BYOT program. After an exhaustive RFP process, ANGEL was chosen and roll-out began almost immediately. There were over 100 Nebraska school districts using ANGEL when it was acquired by Blackboard in May of 2009. With such a widely adapted and complicated implementation, this news was very disturbing for us and our entire world was flipped upside down. We weren't comfortable with Blackboard, nor did we trust them. In March of 2012, we were getting ready to start a new RFP when continued support for ANGEL was announced. Again our world was flipped. A year later, we have a new partnership with Blackboard. We are forging forward with new, broad statewide initiatives. We have stronger partnerships then ever before and we are traversing a massive migration from ANGEL to Blackboard. And that's just the beginning. |
